As part of the first Smart Light Sydney Festival for 2009, the team at Light and Sound Solutions have once again brought imagination to life. Perth lighting artist Flynn Talbot has pushed the boundaries of interactive light with his latest installation at 72 Erskine Gallery in Sydney's CBD. The double sided Barasole™ light box is lined with CK linear led strip enabling vivid gradients to move horizontaly while the Barasole™ covers form the perfect diffuser.

Flynn's concept of the 'Horizon' was created in light form using coloured gradients. Dark to light blue to form the sky and white to dark orange to represent a dusk horizon. During the Smart Light Festival, visitors are invited to interact with the Horizon by modifying the colour combinations using the transparent touch screen in the front window. |

The creative team at Light and Sound Solutions brought Flynn's design ideas to life by implementing a Pharos Control system thanks to Australian suppliers LSC Lighting Systems. A Pharos LPC1 was uploaded with all 26 individual show loops complete with custom web page for the touch screen triggering. Using the Pharos designer software, "the matrix of led product was operational within minutes". Says programmer John Stanley. "Complex programming tasks are made so easy within the designer software" continues John. With the custom web page in place, the USB touchscreen on the front window of the gallery talks directly to a web browser on a laptop.

Flynn comments, "The project went together so effortlessly, we turned a complex idea into a simple light feature for everyone to be apart of. It explores light vs. space and the effect that colour has on people and their surroundings".
'horizon' is in operation 24 hours a day at 72 Erskine st, Sydney, Australia until June 14, 2009.
